Getting Started

What is Chirpy Learn?

Chirpy Learn is a maths program built around printed worksheets. A parent or teacher (we call them "supervisors") sets up an account, adds their students and generates printable worksheets tailored to each child's current level. Children solve the problems on paper. The online side is there to teach concepts, guide students when they need help, and let supervisors track progress — it doesn't replace the work on paper.

Who is Chirpy Learn for?

Chirpy Learn is designed for homeschooling families, tutors, after-school supplemental learners, and small schools — anyone who wants a child to do real maths on paper, with structured progression and clear visibility into how they're going.

Do my children spend the lesson staring at a screen?

No — that's the whole point. The worksheets are printed and completed with pencil and paper. Children only come back to the screen if they need a short tutorial to learn a new concept, or for an occasional assessment to confirm understanding. Most of the learning happens off-screen.

What do I need to get started?

An account on Chirpy Learn, a printer (any standard home printer is fine — black and white is perfectly okay), paper, and pencils. That's it.

Is Chirpy Learn free?

Yes. Every account has full access to everything Chirpy Learn offers — unlimited printable worksheets, student profiles, progress tracking, guided tutorials and assessments — for free, with no payment details required.

Does Chirpy Learn use AI?

No. Chirpy Learn is a traditional maths program that uses printed worksheets and online tutorials. The worksheets are generated by the system using a set of parameters that control the difficulty of the questions. No AI is used in the generation of the worksheets.

Worksheets & Printing

How are the worksheets made?

Chirpy Learn starts from a level — either one you pick directly for a free worksheet, or the level currently assigned to a student. A variety of appropriate exercises are selected and then laid out onto pages ready to print. Every time you generate a worksheet, the numbers and problems will be different. This allows students to practise the skills an unlimited number of times before progressing to the next level.

How long does it take to make a worksheet?

Just a few seconds. Once the student has their level set you press the "Generate Worksheets" button and the system produces a printable PDF on the spot.

Can I generate the same kind of worksheet again with different numbers?

Yes — that's the default behaviour. Every worksheet you generate uses fresh numbers and problem variations, so your child can practise the same skill many times without ever seeing the same sheet twice.

How do I check my child's answers?

Every worksheet you generate has a matching answer-sheet view inside the supervisor app. It shows the exact same exercises with the answers revealed, so you can quickly check your child's work against it. You can also mark each question as correct or incorrect from that view to record how they did. There is also an interface for students that allows them to check their answers and get help if they need it.

What kind of printer do I need?

Any standard home or office printer will do. Worksheets are designed to work in plain black and white on regular paper — no special equipment or colour cartridges required.

Skills, Levels & Progress

What subjects does Chirpy Learn cover?

Our passion is teaching studentds maths. We are influenced by the Australian Curriculum, but are not bound by it. We have a library of over 120 exercises and are adding more all the time. Our aim is to be as comprehensive as possible, so if there is a topic that you would like to see covered, please let us know hello@chirpylearn.com

How do I choose what my child should work on?

From your supervisor account, you assign a level to each child. Levels are organised by grade (Kingergarten/Prep, Grade 1, Grade 2, etc.) and then there are 20 levels within each grade. The exercise are already organised for you in a way to build the skills in a logical progression. When you feel your child is ready, you can simply increase to the next level and we take care of the rest.

Tutorials & Assessments

What is the "Teach Me" tutorial mode?

Many exercises include an interactive, step-by-step tutorial — but it's not a generic video. When your child opens the matching exercise and taps "Teach Me", it walks through the specific problem they're stuck on, using the actual numbers, one step at a time with visuals and audio narration. Then they head back to the paper to finish it themselves. Almost every exercise has its own tutorial, each one hand-built.

What is an assessment, and how is it different from a worksheet?

An assessment is a short on-screen quiz that you, the supervisor, can run when you want to check how your child is going. The system presents questions one at a time drawn from the levels your child is currently working on, your child answers on screen, and at the end you see a score and can review each question. Worksheets are for practice on paper; assessments are for checking understanding on screen.

Does Chirpy Learn grade my child automatically?

Assessments are evaluated automatically as your child answers them, and you'll see a score at the end. Worksheets are paper, so you mark those yourself — the supervisor's answer-sheet view makes that quick. From there, you decide when to progress to the next level.

Students & Accounts

How do my children log in?

Each student gets a short login code rather than a password. They use that code to sign in to a simplified student portal, where they can see their assigned worksheets without needing their own email address.

Can I have more than one child on a single account?

Yes. One supervisor account can have as many students as you like. Each child has their own assigned skills, their own progress, and their own worksheets.

Can a tutor or teacher use this for their students?

Absolutely. Tutors and teachers use Chirpy Learn the same way parents do — they're the supervisor on the account, and each of their students is added underneath. It works for one-on-one tutoring as well as small classes.

What if I want to pause a student for a while?

You can deactivate any student at any time, and reactivate them whenever you like — their skills, progress and worksheets are kept.

My child has an account at school, can I use their Chirpy Learn account?

Yes. Chirpy Learn allows for "sharing" of students across accounts. Simply ask the owner of the account where the student was first created to "Share" the student with you. This is done from the "Manage Students" page under "Account".
